Yes, it is a major part of why Jesus came to the earth, died on the cross, went to hell and ascended in total victory over death, hell and the grave. It is very important, even though it is God’s forgiving heart that causes Him to continually pour out His blessing on us.  When God said, “I will pardon according to Thy word”, He was speaking to Moses as an intercessor for Israel in the wilderness.  Today Jesus has become our high priest (Romans 8:38) He is always in the presence of God interceding for us.

The book of Hebrews pictures Jesus as being offered to bear the sins of many.  He is the sin bearer, like the priest in the Old Covenant, and like Moses who stood in the gap.  The Bible teaches that Jesus is at the Father’s right hand to ask pardon for you and me. Forgiveness is a vital part of redemption, as is the intercession of Christ on the cross. He has been interceding on our behalf in His priestly ministry and will continue until His return. The words of Jesus ring clear in (Mark11:25-26), “If you do not forgive neither will your Father forgive you”.

Let us be like our Father – forgive freely. Forgive governments; forgive Mom’s, Dad’s, teachers and preachers.  Colossians 1:12 says that you are able to be partakers of the inheritance; we have inherited His nature, it was born in us.  We are longsuffering, kind, gentle, good, and full of the love of God and we have peace with God.  Forgiven we can shout with joy!!  So, dear ones, lift your eyes and look to Him who made you and be imitators of God.
