Faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God. (Romans 10:17) That verse is more than a song we sing or a scripture we speak or read. We are saved because we believe in God and the fact that His son came and died for us. When I was a child I was saved because I heard the word of God preached, though, it may have been conveyed through a man; it was the word of God, to me.
When God’s word becomes your word, then, it produces faith. It is important that we hear God’s word. His words are not just words written on a page, they are words that have the breath of the Holy Spirit in them, words that come from the heart of the Father. We have spiritual freedom in this country today, there is preaching and teaching on TV and in churches throughout this land. We must take the time to hear His word preached and read the word of God so that our faith will grow.
Paul said every word of God is inspired by God. In the story of man’s creation there is a beautiful illustration. God drew a man on the ground, then, blew into him, the breath of life. He formed man in His image and His likeness. He fills us today with His Holy Spirit, so we may receive all of His fullness. (Col. 2:9-10)
The Word of God is like a seed full of life. It is like the tiny buds on the trees bursting forth with the life of God. Let’s not take the Word of God for granted, but receive it as His word, which produces faith, faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. Read it, feast on it, hold it dear to your heart, God has invested His life in His word.
